Roth Bros. Inc. (rothbros.com), a leader in energy conservation services, chose the talents of Youngstown Architect, Robert Mastriana of The 4M Company, to remodel their corporate headquarters.
The initiative was to transform the plain structure into an upscale facility with a focus on design, art, and the creation of a work space that would stimulate creativity and productivity in the employees. Between the buildings there existed an exterior space that was not being utilized and was uninviting. Robert transformed it into an employee courtyard complete with a water feature at one end.
To make this area even more attractive, I was commissioned to create an artwork that would add interest to the water feature. My goal was to create a contemporary piece of art that assimilates the Roth logo and the materials used in their own manufacturing processes. The metal patinas produced amazing color transformations on the steel. A heavy clear coat was applied to enhance the color while protecting the finish from the elements. With the expert help of George Kiraly, Roth Shop Manager, the installation was a success in creating a peaceful, artistic, and balanced atmosphere to the newly rejuvenated exterior courtyard.
